Had to pull the plug on the return to the Coliseum...basically the
park and rec of this town has always made it as difficult as possible
for us to provide marshalltown youth with something to do besides
tweaking, stealing car stereos, playing sports or going to church.
...and years later nothing has changed. They were going to have someone
at the door to count every person that goes in and allow only 130...thats
including bands and people running the show. So basically 100 people.
Its really expensive to rent and there is a security desposit that
we would surely lose...not to mention the fact that they said in not
so many words that they would be more than happy shut us down for
any little reason. I don't want to deal with them and i can't risk
having a show shut down when we've got bands traveling from NY and
chicago.
On the other hand...Louisa Ortega who runs the Midnight Ballroom is
really helpful and has nothing but good intentions as far as local
music and entertainment goes. I'd rather give money to her business
than to closed minded people who have no respect for us or the positive
things we are doing. END RANT.
